Institute of Livestock Science and Technology (ILST) was established with the aim of making Bangladesh self-sufficient in livestock and bringing livestock services to the doorstep of people and creating skilled human resources. Established on 3 acres of land in a very pleasant environment next to Shahpur Bazar on Old Satkhira Road in Dumuria Upazila, about twenty five kilometers from Khulna city. It is a government institution under Bangladesh Livestock Directorate under the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock. Its educational program is conducted by BCS (Livestock) cadre teachers. A four-year “Diploma in Livestock” degree is awarded from this institution under the Bangladesh Technical Education Board. Its educational program started in 2021 with the admission of 50 students. At present ILST colleges have been established in 5 places including Gaibandha, Brahmanbaria, Gopalganj and Netrakona.
